BB14 Exclusive: Jaan Kumar Sanu Asserts ‘I Am Definitely No Product Of Nepotism’, Says His Father Wants Him To Be Self Made
Jaan On His Father Kumar Sanu And Nepotism Debate
Updated : October 04, 2020 04:23 PM ISTKumar Sanu’s son from his first wife Rita Bhattacharya, Jaan Kumar Sanu is all set to make his first public appearance on Bigg Boss 14. At a time, when the nepotism and favouritism debate has flared up like never before, it is indubitable that such conjectures will be made by the audiences.
We exclusively got in touch with Jaan to know what misgivings he had about being a part of the controversial reality TV show where people are free to arrive at any conclusion and in the aftermaths of it all, it is the contestant who suffers. However, Jaan seems to be well-equipped. He says he is coming on the show to prove it to the world that just like his father he is self-made as well and there is zero support from his father in terms of his career. Quipped he, “Actually, this is one of the reasons for which I am going on the show, a lot of people have this misconception regarding star kids. I feel I am definitely not a product of nepotism, because had I been one, everyone would have heard me in a lot of movies and a lot of big projects. My father has been guiding me, he has been giving me a lot of good advice to hone my singing skill but there has never been any kind of partiality or any kind of favour that he has done as such. He is a self-made man, there has been no godfather who helped him to be where he is today. He didn’t use any connections to get the recognition in the industry and he wants me to do the same. He has made it himself.”
Jaan further elucidated a belief that is ingrained deeply in the psychology of his family, “My family believes, anyone who has achieved anything by himself or herself is worthier than those whose career has been bequeathed to him or her as a legacy,” he said.
Jaan also feels that it is because of the huge reach of the audiences of Bigg Boss, he will be able to get his point across to many and will able to show, he has had no extra-ordinary childhood, “I feel by getting in the show, I will be able to clear these misconceptions about me, because a lot of people think, star kids are really privileged. I have also received a lot of messages asking me how am I so down to earth and so grounded. People ask me how I don’t have any celebrity tantrum or attitude - that is something I am very proud of. I feel blessed that people are already getting to know the real me. I have had a very normal upbringing and I am definitely not a product of nepotism,” he ruminated.
The aspiring playback singer was pretty hesitant before he gave a positive nod for the show but at the same time, he felt this big opportunity was surely worth it and he should give it a go, “I surely have inhibitions about these questions [about nepotism and favoritism] being raised but I am well-armed. I am prepared to answer whatever question comes my way. I feel that Bigg Boss is a platform with a massive reach that can be used to clear the air if there are rumours. People deserve to know the truth. I didn't think I would have gotten a better opportunity to do this. Therefore, I am looking at the positive light,” Jaan concluded.
