Updated : June 05, 2020 03:36 PM ISTActor Vineet Raina is known for numerous roles on TV. And now with Ullu Digital’s Kasak, Vineet is all set to make his debut I the web platform as well. Well, the show is inspired from areal life incident and it also stars Minissha Lamba and Ihana Dhillon in key roles.
In an exclusive chat with us Vineet revealed intricate details about the shoot and he also shed light on the event on which the web series is partially based.
Vineet Stated, “The web series is partially inspired by a true story. It is about a case that happened in the KEM hospital. It was publicised as the Aruna Shanbaug case. But it has been fictionalised too for entertainment purposes. It surely is no biopic.”
The Maayka actor stated that he was interested from the time he heard the script. “The moment this plot was narrated to me, I immediately agreed to do it.”
He went on to reveal the most intriguing part of shooting the series statin that they had shot ina real hospital and in real-time and besides their shoot nothing around them was staged! “We have shot in a real hospital. It was Balaji hospital in Parel (a Mumbai suburb). We shot it there with a very small unit. We used to make sure we followed hospital protocols, we used to wear masks and sanitize ourselves. There used to be real patients so we used to take hold of one corner and with a pin-drop silence, we used to shoot. We sued to speak only when the actors used to say their dialogues.”
Well, with such a setting it is dubbing was almost mandatory. He stated, “We knew we had to dub the web series because we had a lot of ambient noise in the hospital. Everyone was told to work just the way they are habituated to.”

Talking about how the technicians would manage to get decent footage, Vineet revealed, “Only two actors and one cameraman would go inside with just one or two light men. We used to shoot in very dim lighting conditions. The unit used to carry just two to three lights so that the patients or their visitors don’t face a problem.”
Vineet further admitted that he had never done something of this sort earlier in his career ad resultantly the reactions coming from him were almost natural, “This was the first time in my life that I did something of this sort where I was shooting in a real-life hospital which had patients. And in such situations, automatically, the actor literally immerses himself or herself into the scene. That’s what happened to me.” Quipped he.
He stated filming some of those scenes in the hospital took a toll on his mental and physical being. “The tragedy happens in the life of the character Ihana Dhillon is playing, when my character, as in I go to visit her in the hospital and she is lying in a vegetative, it was difficult, all those scenes took a toll on me, I used to feel, how much Aruna Shanbaug had to endure in reality. It took a toll on me when I used to perform, sometimes the glycerine wasn’t needed. the actor concluded!
