Exclusive: Rohitash Gaud Won’t Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi This Year, ‘There Is A Sense Of Gloom And Sadness Due To COVID-19’
Rohitash Won’t Celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi This Year
Updated : August 22, 2020 01:37 PM ISTThe Ganpati fervor has caught the Mumbaikars but this time, the situation is not what it used to be in the yesteryears. Things have changed, people have not gathered in hordes. No pandal is in place to celebrate the festival. But people have the devotion to Lord Ganesha nonetheless.
Like the rest of the state of Maharashtra, the TV celebs too used to celebrate the festival with great pomp and splendor. However, this year, no one is celebrating it in a gala manner. We exclusively got in touch with &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai's Rohitash Gaud to know-how have the celebrations changed for him this year, given the fact that last year, it was a huge affair for his family.
The actor told us this year will be in stark contrast to the previous years because he would not be celebrating the festival. Quipped he, “This time, we have planned not to celebrate the Ganpati Utsav because everyone knows the condition isn’t good because of the Coronavirus scare.”
He feels when the biggest Ganpati pandals are not bringing in idols this year, it doesn’t make any sense for him to do it either, “In Mumbai, most of the pandals are running blood donation camps these days. This time the famous Lalbaugcha Raja too will not celebrate and therefore, we have decided not to celebrate as well because this won’t be good. People will definitely come and go if we do celebrate. Even if they turn up in small numbers, it is risky. This time we will venerate the Ganapati in our little mandirs at home like an everyday affair but we won’t be able to get the Murtis and do the ‘Staaphna’ and the ‘Visarjan’ this year,” Gaud said.
He went on to recollect the wonderful memories of the Ganeshotsav 2019, “Last year was a gala affair, there were many actors who had visited our place, the media was invited too who shot the ‘Aarti’ as it happened but this time al plans were canceled. There is a sense of gloom and sadness in a way in the atmosphere due to the COVID-19 situation,” Rohitash concluded.
