Schlesinger dies at 52, Due To COVID-19
Updated : April 02, 2020 02:56 PM ISTEmmy and Grammy-winning musician songwriter Adam Schlesinger, known for his work with his band Fountains of Wayne and on the TV show “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” passed away on Wednesday after contracting the Coronavirus.
Schlesinger died at a hospital in upstate New York. Speaking to the media, his longtime lawyer Josh Grier revealed, no one knows how he contracted the virus. Schlesinger was 52 years old and he was also a father of two daughters. The songwriter was sedated and was on a ventilator for several days.
The songwriter was also an Oscar nominee for writing the title song for the 1997 movie “That Thing You Do”.
After the news of his death surfaced, there are fans aplenty who have been playing brilliant pop songs and posting tributes today in honour of Adam Schlesinger.
Tom Hanks who has produced “That Thing You Do is himself recovering from the COVIS-19 virus took to his official Twitter handle to express his condolences.
He wrote, There would be no playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his “That Thing You Do! He was a One-der. Lost him to COVID-19Terribly sad today. Hanx”

Crazy Ex-girlfriend co-creator Aline Brosh McKenna remembered her long time friend Adam in a Twitter tribute to his genuius and creativity. She called him “the most brilliant, the most funny, the most clever, the most musical.”

Fran Drescher too took to Twitter to mourn the loss of Schlesinger, who she revealed was writing the music for “The Nanny” musical. “My prayers are for you. May peace be with you,” she wrote.

Musician Jack Antonoff wrote that he was honoured to exist at the same time as Schlesinger, who “took pop music to its classiest and most untouchable place.”
