Hema Malini Makes A Plea For Senior Actor Says, 'If An Actor Over 65 Is Fit And Willing, Should Be Allowed To Shoot'
Hema Wants Actors Over 65 To Shoot
Updated : July 14, 2020 03:32 PM ISTYesteryear actress Hema Malini is not quite happy with the decision of the government that actors above the age of 65 are not being allowed to shoot during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
Earlier, the veteran actress wrote to Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla to initiate a change in the government resolution which states no cast or crew above the age of 65 should be allowed on the sets.
Hema in an interaction with Bombay Times made it very clear that an actor who is fit should not be stopped from working. She has been quoted as saying, “If an actor, who is over 65 years of age, is fit and willing to work, they should be allowed to do so. Why should they not be allowed to shoot on the set? Actors can’t sit at home and do nothing. There are so many TV shows that have roles essayed by senior actors. So, they should be allowed on the sets.”
Speaking about the demands of extra care for senior actors Hema stated, people should take care of themselves and that in times like these, it is the least anyone could do. She has been quoted by BT as saying, “First of all, you should know how to protect yourself instead of depending on others. I am extra careful even at home. If I have anyone coming from outside for any work at home, I make them use the PPE kit before stepping in. These are tough times and you need to be extra cautious.”
The veteran dancer/actress has also written to the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman about how the film fraternity is affected by COVID-19. She has been further quoted as saying, “I have written to the Finance Minister, mentioning how the fraternity members are suffering because of the pandemic. Hamare jo kalakaar hai — musicians, singers, dancers, basically all those who perform and earn on a day-to-day basis — have suffered a lot, as so many live shows have been called off.”
