Sardar Udham Singh Producer Reveals Irrfan Khan Told Them To Move On With The Film: He Felt It Would Be Unfair If We Wait
Irrfan Khan Said Go Ahead’ With Udham Singh - Producer
Updated : June 11, 2020 03:26 PM ISTThere were many films lined up for Irrfan Khan. However, with his untimely and sudden demise on the 29th April, ’20, none of those could materialize.
Irrfan Khan was playing the lead in the Shoojit Sircar directorial Udham Singh. The 53-year-old actor was also supposed to work on a web-series titled Gormint, but he had to leave that project as well mid-way due to health issues.
Irrfan had already started work on the Uddham Singh biopic with the Piku director but that project too couldn’t materialize and now Shoojit has remade the entire film with actor Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The director had also shared the first look of the film.
It was during a conversation with the PTI that Ronnie Lahiri, who is producing the project, said, they were waiting for Irrfan's return after his treatment but they mutually decided to move ahead with a different actor. "We had mutually discussed that he won’t be in a physical situation to do such a complex role and he had asked us to move ahead. He told us before anyone else does a film on that subject he felt it would be unfair if we wait and somebody else does it," Ronnie told PTI
The producer further went on to reveal, "Previously, there was another film that we were going to do with him and somebody else did it and we had to shelve it. For him, stories were more important than individuals and we should go ahead and tell this important story of Udham Singh."
Besides Uddham Singh and Vishal Bharadwaj’s next opposite Deepika Padukone, Irrfan was also in talks with Anurag Basu for a sequel of the superhit film Life in a Metro and he was also supposed to play the lead character in a Gurinder Chaddha film too.
