Jaya Bachchan Addresses The Issue Of Women Safety In The Parliament, Says The Convicted Should Be ‘Lynched’!
Jaya Feels Rape Convicts Should Be Lynched
Updated : December 02, 2019 05:32 PM ISTThe nation is in shock again. Last week in Hyderabad, a doctor had been gang raped and then charred to death after her scooty and broken down. This is just one amongst the many incidents that took place last week, including the rape and murder of children in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. Needless to say, the nation is also angry. The outrage is visible and many celebs have also tweeted expressing their concern.
Jaya Bachchan, who is also a Member of Parliament, decided to take up the matter in the House of Commons itself. Addressing the speaker, she raised her concerns and also made some suggestions. She asked the speaker to make the ones in charge of safety answerable to the public if such offenses occur repeatedly. She also asked that the perpetrators to be lynched, even though it might sound ‘harsh’. Here is the video:

The video has left Twitter divided. While many people have lauded her idea, many criticised it as well. Bigg Boss participant Tehseen Poonawalla criticised it. He wrote,

Absolutely bizarre! This will actually make he law &order worse! https://t.co/7IPEMpChzp
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >#JayaBachchan observed absolute silence when #AzamKhan mad ridiculous comments first against Jaya Prada & then Rama Devi. Now she's asking for lynching in her enraged speech. Sheer political melodrama. Lawmakers are supposed to find solutions not spread chaos

undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >#JayaBachchan is a member of parliament. A lawmaker, like a court judge should leave emotion and personal bias at home, and act according to law & constitution.

JB was out of line and irresponsible in supporting lynching. Exemplifies the quality of our lawmakers.
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >We all are angry, outraged.. and want some tangible change. But for an MP to even suggest that culprits be lynched is unacceptable. Irresponsible... Do something rather than give dramatic monologues #JayaBachchan #hyderabadHorror #Gangrape #LynchingIsNotTheAnswer

Many supported it as well:
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >Absolutely madam. I think this is the best suggestion. the greatest of fear in someones life is getting lynched by public. #jayabachchan govt should introduce this legislation to punish the culprits of gangrape. I think juvenile act should be relooked too.#MondayMotivation pic.twitter.com/gIZyBbdFhb
