Kangana Ranaut bags Sita: The Incarnation
Updated : September 14, 2021 09:20 PM ISTKangana Ranaut announced that she bagged the titular role in the upcoming adaptation of the Ramayan which will be a retelling of the epic from Goddess Sita’s perspective. The actress made the announcement on social media today sharing the poster which also revealed the title of the project which is Sita: The Incarnation.
The film is being helmed Alaukik Desai and been written by Babhubali fame K.V. Vijayendra Prasad along with the filmmaker. Manoj Muntashir has been on boarded to pen the dialogues for Sita. Like Kangana’s latest film outing Thalaivii, Sita too will be a pan Indian release and will be dubbed in five languages Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

It was earlier reported that Kareena Kapoor Khan was offered the titular role but was dropped after she allegedly hike her fee to star in the film which would allegedly take a considerable amount of time in making.
A controversy had erupted after the actress was trolled for demanding Rs. 12 crores for the project where as she usually charges Rs. 6-7 crores for a project. The actress recently commented on the controversy and said in an interview, “I make it quite clear what I want and I think that respect should be given. It’s not about being demanding, it’s about being respectful towards women. And I think things are kind of changing,” she told The Guardian.
K V Vijayendra Prasad had said in an interview that the actress was never approached for the part and dubbed the whole episode of the actress’ name being linked with the film a publicity gimmick. There were also rumours of Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt being approached.
