Kartik Aaryan on his character in Dhamaka: ‘I enjoyed the fact that Arjun is not vanilla; has shades of grey’

Kartik Aaryan has won our hearts time and again with his quirky, lover-boy characters in his previous films. But with his next project Dhamaka, helmed by ace filmmaker Ram Madhvani, the actor has dived into a new and exciting territory. Fans are super excited to see him live a brand new character on-screen-- journalist Arjun Pathak, a news anchor on TRTV Bharosa 24/7. The Bollywood heartthrob has already left us in awe with his performance in the trailer! Well, not only does Dhamaka mark Kartik’s first action thriller, but is also his very first project with Madhvani.

In a recent chat with Mid Day, Kartik opened up about Madhvani’s unconventional style of shooting a film. It took the actor a while before he settled into the process and understood his character’s mind. But once he did, it became an experience he wanted to relive. Kartik explained, “It’s not easy to be that honest in front of the camera.” He reiterated that Arjun Pathak is the most challenging role of his career.

Talking about what drew him to the project and a character which was unexpected, and pleasantly surprising, from him after his previous outings, Kartik shared, “I enjoyed the fact that Arjun is not vanilla. He is an opportunist, and has shades of grey. His moral compass is [skewed]. It was emotionally draining as the character goes through many [trying] situations. That said, it was an opportunity to utilise all my energy and invest in that role.”

Well, as movie lovers we are glad Kartik took this opportunity to explore uncharted waters. We all have high expectations from Arjun Pathak and Dhamaka, which premieres on Netflix this Friday.
