Kunal Kemmu's Lootcase To Now Release In Cinemas And Not On OTT

We had reported about how Fox Star Studios thought of thwarting the release of this Kunal Kemmu starrer comedy on the silver screens. They had decided to release the film directly on the OTT platforms. The film was supposed to release on October 11 but due t almost close to nil buzz around the film, the release date of the film was postponed. Not to forget the Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar starrer The Sky Is Pink would have clashed with Lootcase if it would have released on the same date.

However, the makers have now given it a second thought and decided to continue with the theatrical release for the film. Yesterday, the official Twitter handles of Fox Star Studios, director Rajesh Krishnan and lead actor Kunal Kemmu sent out tweets confirming that the theatrical release of Lootcase is indeed on.

Bollywood Hungama quotes a source as saying, "It was a management decision. The film will be shown in cinemas and only then it’ll be out on OTT and television. However, the film won’t release on October 11, as planned earlier. It’ll be out on a later date, probably after Diwali. The makers will soon announce the new release date.”

The same report quotes another industry source as saying, “The team of Fox Star Studios wants to give this film a chance. They feel Lootcase has potential and can work at the box office through word of mouth. It’s a clean comedy with a very funny climax. Hence, they changed their minds although talks were already going on with a major OTT platform.”

Lootcase stars Kunal Kemmu, Rasika Duggal, Ranvir Shorey in key roles. The film has been directed by Rajesh Krishnan.
