Mumbai Police Fails To Hand Over Statements In Sushant Singh Rajput Case To ED, Irks The Central Agency: Reports

Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case the attention of fans across the globe and is surrounded by a lot of speculations. What started as a probe into Sushant’s career and possible work disputes has now turned into case where his family is suggesting that he was murdered. The Enforcement Directorate is involved as well looking into money laundering angles after the actor’s father complained about Rs. 15 crores being siphoned.

It has now come to light that like the Bihar police, ED is getting bothered by the Mumbai police’s inability to cooperate. According to recent reports the central agency has still not managed to get its hands on statements recorded by the Mumbai police even after several requests.

A Mid-Day source suggests that the directorate requested for the said statements about 11 days ago. On August 14 the Mumbai police replied to ED asking for specifics, “Till now statements of 56 persons are recorded in the said investigation and other relevant evidences are collected with respect to unnatural death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Kindly specify persons whose copies of statements and other relevant documents are required for your investigation. All the necessary assistance required for your investigation will be provided.”

The reply has fueled the agitation further and now a source from the enforcement directorate tells the publication, “We had sent a letter to Mumbai Police on August 3, demanding documents related to the case. But, they took 11 days to respond, and when they did, they wanted us to specify the documents [instead of handing over everything]. Why is there so much secrecy? This just delays the investigation.”

The agency has so far question Rhea Chakraborty and several others in their probe of the money laundering angle. Meanwhile Rhea has petitioned the Supreme Court that the case against her be transferred to the Mumbai police.
