Nawazuddin Siddiqui: "More than nepotism, there is racism in our industry, and I have been fighting it for years"

Nawazuddin Siddiqui has been a part of the Hindi film industry for decades, but it was just last decade that he gained limelight and recognition. But once he was seen, there was no turning back for the actor who has been a part of both commercial and critically acclaimed films. Now, in a recent interview, the actor has opened up about how racism exists even more than nepotism in the industry.

Talking to Bollywood Hungama, Nawaz shared, "More than nepotism, there is racism in our industry, and I have been fighting it for years. I hope that brown actresses are also made heroines in films and it is necessary. I am not talking about black and white skin colours, but better films would be made if the biasness towards one particular skin colour is over."

He added, "Initially, I was rejected in films because of my short height and brown skin. I do not wish to talk about it today because God has given me more than I could ever ask for, many directors have given me more than I deserve. But I want to say that there are many artists out there who lose out on because of skin colour."

Well, many stars have talked about bias being practiced for skin colour. Earlier, Esha Gupta had revealed how she was made to put on lighter makeup. She also opened up about how she was termed sexy because of her skin colour and that fair girls were perceived as  'shariff' women.
