Pareeksha Director Prakash Jha Raises Concerns For The Underprivileged As Schools Take Classes Online
Prakash Jha On Pareeksha- The Final Test
Updated : August 11, 2020 05:56 PM ISTPrakash Jha’s latest film Pareeksha talks about the injustices meted out to the underprivileged when it comes to anything. The difference between the rich and the poor is inordinate. And the film is a mirror to all the atrocities that they face especially when some big problem plagues the country. In an interview with Mid-Day, Prakash Jha stated, "Our system favours those who already have everything; power and money to access the best education."
Jha’s film is based on real events from Bihar. However, this isn’t the first time that his films have showcased the reality. In his previous offerings as well, the problems that rural India is ridden with have found a place in his films.
Nowadays, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the classes are being conducted online but at the same time many in our country don’t have access to smartphones, the big question is, how will online education be accessible to them? He told Mid-Day, "The masses in small towns don't have smart phones. How will they be part of digital education? What will [a labouring] father, who may not have the means to pay even a Rs 10,000 fee, do?"
Jha further stressed on the fact that equal learning opportunities should be created for all and not just the privileged class, "If you don't create opportunities for a poor child, how will he even compete?" He asked.
