Lyricist Yogesh Gaur Passes Away
Updated : May 30, 2020 09:11 AM ISTVeteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur passed away. He was 77 years old. The lyricist was known for a lot of songs that he had penned. The Rajesh Khanna starrer Anand’s Zindagi Kaisi Hai Paheli was one of the most popular songs he had written.
His career began when filmmaker Hrithsikesh Mukherjee heard his song Kahin Door Jab Din Dhal Jaaye which he had written for LB Lachman and used it in Anand.
Another song that he penned and which continues to be a cult of sorts and still is Kayi Baar Yun Bhi Dekha Hai from the movie Rajanigandha that had Vidya Sinha and Amol Palekar in the lead roles. The song earned a national award for its singer Mukesh.
Yogesh wrote songs that were high on melody and most of them have a touch of the waltz to it. Some other famous songs that he penned was, Naa Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha from the film Baaton Baaton Mein that starred Amol Palekar and Tina Mumin in the lead roles. Rimjhim Gire Saawan from the Amitabh Bachchan and Moushumi Chatterjee starrer Manzil, Jaaneman Jaaneman Tere Do Nayan from the Vidya Sinha, Amol Palekar starrer Chotii Si Baat.
Singer Lata Mangeshkar shared a tweet about him expressing condolences. She wrote, “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki dil ko chunewale geet likhne wale kavi Yogesh ji ka aaj swargwas hua. Ye sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua.Yogesh ji ke likhe kai geet maine gaaye. Yogesh ji bahut shaant aur madhur swabhav ke insan the. Main unko vinamra shraddhanjali arpan karti hun."

Lataji also shared a photo of the singer fro the year 2018 when he was awarded the Dinanath Mangeshkar award. Later she also shared the famous song, Na Jaane Kyu Hota Hai Yeh Zindegi Ke Saath reminding everybody that Yogesh had penned those immortal lyrics! she went on to say, this song that had been composed by Salil Choudhury is one of her personal favourites.

Yogesh hailed from Lucknow and he came down to Mumbai with his cousin Yogendra Gaur when he was just 16 years old. Yogendra went on to become a screenwriter.
The lyricist made a comeback of sorts with Piya Mosey Rooth Gaye and Meri Ankhein from the 2017 film Angrezi Mei Kehte Hain that featured Sanjay Mishra, Ekavali Khanna and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal characters.
