Rishi Kapoor Called Juhi Chawla An 'Insecure Actor' During Sharmaji Namkeen Shoot: 'I Was Worried If I Was Holding Up Well'

Juhi Chawla & Rishi Kapoor have been one of the most memorable onscreen pairs of the 90’s. She was also his last female co-star in Sharmaji Namkeen before the veteran actor died one year ago after losing his battle with leukemia. On his first death anniversary, the actress recalled how revered Rishi Kapoor for his brilliance as an actor and shared anecdotes from the sets of his last film.

The actress while talking to Times Of India, recalled how even after a year of being away in New York for his treatment of cancer, Rishi Kapoor never lost touch with his character and how he was effortless.

On the contrary, Juhi remembered how he called her an ‘insecure actor’ on the sets of Sharmaji Namkeen, which was his way of showing concern wrapped in anger.

“While shooting for Sharmaji Namkeen, I would be rolling with laughter because he had something to pull me up for every single day. One day, he actually called me an insecure actor because I’d rush to see the monitor after every shot. His shots were fantastic, and I was worried if I was holding up well. In his typical style, he shouted at me and said, ‘That monitor is for the director. Not you… you insecure actor.’ It was so funny...I never questioned why he had such a tough exterior, but over the years, I started enjoying it because it was cute,” the actress remembered.

Rishi Kapoor unfortunately couldn’t complete the film after his cancer relapsed. He died on April 30 in a Mumbai based hospital. Actor Paresh Rawal later stepped in to completed the film which will now be released by the makers in memory of the late actor.
