Sadak 2: Alia Bhatt Starrer To Release On OTT, Mahesh Bhatt Says 'This Is The Best I Can Do To Survive...It's The Only Option Left'

Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming film, Sadak 2, that will have Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor in the lead, will be heading for an OTT release. The director himself confirmed the news and also added that it is the best he can do to 'survive'.

In an interview with PTI, Mahesh Bhatt said, "It (number of COVID-19 cases) is increasing day-by-day instead of subsiding. In this situation do you think the theatres will open? And even if they do and 'Sadak 2' is released, will people go to watch it? People have to protect their families. Today, life is more important. I am compelled to come (on digital platform) because I don't see any light in the near future. This is the best I can do to survive. There are certain things that you do, not out of choice but out of compulsion. This is the only option left. It is a no-brainer."

Well, Sadak 2 will join the league of many other films that chose to head the OTT way instead of waitibng for theatres to open and then release the film. But unlike the rest of the OTT releases, there is some portion still left to be shot. The filmaker said, "We have a two-day shoot left which we intend to begin next month. The post-production is going on in full swing simultaneously."

Sadak 2 now joins a plethora of films that opted for a direct OTT release. Shoojit Sircar's Gulaabo Sitabo was one of the first films to go the OTT way, despite making the film for theatres. Other films like Dil Bechara, Shakuntala Devi and Kargil Girl will also be released directly on OTT.
