Sanjay Will Fly To New York For Cancer Treatment
Updated : August 25, 2020 08:49 PM ISTIt was in the last week that Sanjay Dutt headed out to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for his preliminary treatment of stage four lung cancer. And now, the latest is, the 61-year-old actor has procured a U.S. visa and will head out to New York for further treatment.
Mid-Day quoted a source as saying, "Sanju had applied for the visa as soon as he learnt of the diagnosis. However, initially, it wasn’t easy to get the clearance. He was acquitted in the 1993 Bombay Blasts but convicted in the arms act. US policies are if one is convicted in any case for 5 years and above, they just need a special waiver for getting the visa. Fortunately, one of his close friends helped the actor secure a five-year visa on medical grounds. He is expected to fly to New York with Maanayata and Priya, where he will pursue treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre."
It is noteworthy that the actor’s mother Nargis Dutt who was herself undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer had been admitted to the same hospital between 1980 and 1981.
In the recent past deceased actor Rishi Kapoor, Manisha Koirala, and Sonali Bendre too were admitted to the same hospital.
The source has revealed Sanjay had Singapore as plan B if the US didn’t work out, "Sanju was considering travelingto Singapore if the US plan did not materialize. Thankfully, everything has worked out swiftly, and he is expected to leave at the earliest, added the source.
It was earlier this month that Sanjay Dutt’s cancer diagnosis came to the fore post which wife Maanayata Dutt issued a statement that read, "I thank everyone who has expressed their well wishes for Sanju's speedy recovery. We need all the strength and prayers to overcome this phase. There is a lot that the family has gone through in the past years but I am confident, this too shall pass."
