Shooter Dadi Chandro Tomar Dies Days After Testing Positive
Updated : April 30, 2021 04:54 PM ISTSaand Ki Aankh fame shooter dadi, Chandro Tomar, succumbed to Covid-19 and died on Friday, 30 April. She was 89. The octogenarian shooter was admitted to a hospital in Meerut, earlier in the week after she complained about feeling breathless.
Her demise is being mourned by many celebrities on social media including Bhumi Pednekar who played her in the 2019 film helmed by Tushar Hiranandani. In a condolence tweet the actress wrote, “Devastated by the news of Chandro Dadi’s demise. Feels like a part of me is gone. She made her own rules & paved the path for many girl to find their dream. Her legacy will live on in them. Condolences to the family. Am lucky I got to know and be her #ChandroTomar #ShooterDadi”

Taapsee Pannu who also co-starred in the film and played the other shooter dadi, Prakashi Tomar, wrote in a tweet, “For the inspiration you will always be... You will live on forever in all the girls you gave hope to live. My cutest rockstar May the and peace be with you .”

Chandro Tomar became sharp shooter in her 60’s by chance after her granddaughter expressed interest in shooting and she picked up a pistol and hit bull’s eye in the first go. Chandro went on to become a national champion and was the oldest female sharp shooter in the world.
