Updated : June 24, 2019 02:39 PM ISTSona Mohapatra has been one of the few vocal celebs who have expressed her disappointment at Shahid Kapoor and his latest release Kabir Singh. While most of the celebs have been lauding the film, she is one of the rare few in Bollywood who has spoken about Shahid’s responsibility as an actor to choose what kind of character he portrays and what he the impact of such portrayal may be.
Sona Mohapatra Called Out By Fan Who Equated Bedardi Raja With Kabir Singh, Singer’s Reply Is Just Perfect!
As usual, not a lot of people have taken that very well. People who have liked the film have jumped to defend the film. In fact, one of the social media users came forward to “remind” the singer that she was the voice behind the Delhi Belly song- Bedardi Raja and that she should be optimistic. Here is what he wrote:

Now anyone sensible enough would know that the song and the film cannot be equated in any manner whatsoever. The singer herself thought that it was important to reply to the user and point out how problematic his comment was. Here is what she said:
undefined src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" >U are the nth moron trying to make such a false equivalence. A woman singing lustily & celebrating her own sexuality isn’t likely to cause violence & isn’t the same thing as a man grabbing a woman without her consent, kissing her apart from several other such toxic masculine acts https://t.co/d0efQmxKbV

Well, we just can’t help but agree with her point completely. Many critics have also dismissed Kabir Singh as a film that is full of misogyny and promotes toxic masculinity. While there are a lot of people lauding the film for its technique and Shahid’s performance, most people have agreed that the content is not something to be praised.
