Narcotics Control Bureau Issues Statement

It is no more about the actor’s death, now, it has morphed into something completely different. As the Narcotics Control Bureau has started their probe into the involvement of Rhea Chakraborty, his brother and family’s involvement in drugs, the big question now is will the alleged drug nexus that exists in Bollywood, be busted? Well, it was on Thursday that the Narcotics Control Bureau released an official statement on investigations that so far has been conducted in the Sushant Singh Rajput drug-related case.
In the statement, the NCB made it clear that they had received official communication from the ED (Enforcement Directorate) in which there were various chats, pertaining to 'drugs consumption, procurement, usage and transportation'. And thereafter the NCB conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter and launched an investigation.
The statement stated, in separate incidents on the intervening night of 27th August, based on specific inputs, raids were conducted in Mumbai and Abbas Lakhani and Karn Arora were apprehended and bud (curated marijuana) was seized.
The agency had further revealed that it has found Abbas Lakhani had contact with an individual named Zaid Vilatra who has also been arrested. During the search, Indian currency (Rs 9,55,750/-) and foreign currency (US $ 2081, 180 British Pounds, 15 Dirham) were recovered. Zaid revealed these were proceeds of drug peddling.
The statement also disclosed that Zaid runs an eatery at Bandra, Mumbai which didn’t have much profits during the lockdown and that he was into drug –peddling especially bud which gave him good pecuniary gains. Furthermore, NCB stated that it questioned Basit Parihar, a Bandra resident and found out his link with the details of the preliminary inquiry that was submitted by the Enforcement Directorate.
Meanwhile, according to a Republic TV report, sources from the NCB stated Showik wanted to purchase 5 gms of drugs for Rs 10,000 through Samuel Miranda and cell tower data showed Miranda being within 125 ms of the drug dealer after this. The NCB submitted a list of 18 persons allegedly involved in the drug nexus to the Mumbai Police, of whom four are 'big names', including one actor, one filmmaker and two politicians.
