Sushant Singh Rajput Death: Shekhar Suman Says Press Conference In Bihar Wasn't His Idea, Uncomfortable By Family's Silence
Shekhar Suman On Taking Backseat In SSR Case
Updated : July 16, 2020 05:39 PM ISTIt has been over a month since Sushant Singh Rajput ended his life by hanging himself in his Mumbai apartment leaving behind no note and a series of unanswered questions. Senior actor Shekhar Suman who felt emotionally anguished hearing of the actor’s death soon after started a forum demanding justice for Sushant by actively campaigning for a CBI probe in the matter.
It was on Wednesday that Shekhar tweeted that he wants to take a backseat in the matter as the late actor’s family still remains silent on the matter making no move to support him in the cause. He had visited the family last month in Patna and also held a press conference questioning the circumstances around the actor’s death that demand everyone’s attention. Now, speaking about his decision to step down he told DNA, “I am still part of the movement. I'm just going behind because I'm waiting for the family to say something. I'm not having their approval and it feels uncomfortable and weird that who are you fighting for? It's like, they stand up and say we don't want an inquiry and why are these guys going ahead and doing the inquiry when we don't want it.”

The actor is happy that his movement is now getting attention from politicians who are looking into the matter and also added that if any of Sushant’s co-stars or friends from the fraternity spoke up it would have made a huge difference but none of them did.

He also clarified that the press conference that allegedly upset the family wasn’t his idea. “I don't think one had to make a public tamasha out of it. First of all, the press conference was not my idea. I didn't want to do a press conference. It was Tejaswi Yadav who said it would be nicer if we just announce it publicly that I am supporting the forum. In the case of them (the family) remaining completely silent, it would have been wrong to invite them for something like this. What if they said that they weren't interested and that I should go ahead and do what I want? That would be an embarrassing situation,” the publication quoted him saying.
Many fans were upset after Shekhar announced his decision to take a backseat and therefore the actor announced he will continue his crusade despite no support from Sushan’t family.
