Celebs Laud Deepika Padukone For Joining JNU Peace Rally
Updated : January 08, 2020 09:44 AM ISTOne of the most popular and adored actresses of the Hindi film industry, Deepika Padukone has been in the national capital for the past two days on a promotional spree for her upcoming film Chhapaak. She left fans surprised yesterday when she joined students of Jawaharlal Nehru University for a peace rally, held as a protest against the attack inside campus on evening of January 5th by masked goons. Many pictures and videos of the star interacting with students went viral on social media.
While there are many who decided to boycott her and stated that she is doing this just to promote her film, others praised her for the bold move and applauded her courage. Bollywood celebrities such as Swara Bhaskar, Anurag Kashyap, Richa Chadha and Lisa Ray among others also took to their official social media handles to laud Deepika. While Anurag shared a long tweet which read: “The female of the species is, and was, and will always be the strongest of the two #DeepikaPadukone . Chhapak first day all shows . Let’s all those who stand against the violence go to @bookmyshow and show them. Make our silent statement which will be the loudest”, Swara wrote a simple yet supportive message “Good on you @deepikapadukone”.
