Tigmanshu Dhulia Reveals He Had Approached Irrfan Khan For Yaara, Here's How Vidyut Jamwal Got The Part
Tigmanshu On Casting Irrfan for Yaara
Updated : July 29, 2020 06:59 PM ISTTigmanshu Dhulia is coming up with his next film Yaara which is based on the life of four friends who take to the world of organised crime. In an interview with Mid-Day, the director revealed, he had actually envisioned Irrfan in one of the roles of the film. He also said, that he narrated the character to the late actor who was very excited to play the role.
He told Mid-Day, “When we were casting, I had approached Irrfan to play the role that has now been essayed by Vidyut [Jammwal]. Irrfan was excited when I narrated the script to him, but we couldn't take it forward.”
The issue was, the script traced the life of four friends from their early twenties to their late fifties and it was difficult to make Irrfan look young, "I had to show the characters' journeys from their early 20s to their 50s. We realised it would be impossible to depict Irrfan in his 20s. It is easy to make young actors look old, but doing the reverse is difficult," he told the publication.
Thereafter, the Paan Singh Tomar director finalised Vidyut Jammwal for the role. The film also stars Amit Sadh, Kenny Basumatary and Vijay Varma.
The film is an official adaptation of the 2011 French movie Les Lyonnais and will be streamed on ZEE5. He further told Mid-Day that he was never fond of making remakes but when he saw the movie, he fell in love with it and thought of making it in an Indian backdrop.
