Gurumurthy made a statement in which he said, "Vijay Thalapathy took loans to get the money for the donation because all his money was confiscated by the income tax department earlier this year."

Vijay's friend and producer Suresh Kamatchi took to his official Twitter account to slam Gurumurthy for his comments on the Bigil actor. On Monday, he wrote in favour of Vijay saying one should appreciate the efforts of the superstar and think, even after not being in a good financial position, he is trying to help those who are in need in whatever way it is possible. He tweeted in Tamil, it read, “Gurumurthy, who has profited by lobbying with politicians, has not even donated a small amount and yet he has trolled Thalapathy Vijay who did it in spite of the situation he is in. I strongly condemn Gurumurthy for his troll.” Take a look :

Vijay Thalapathy donated a hefty sum of One Crore and thirty Lakhs to the south Indian state government funds, The Prime Minister Relief Funds and the FEFSI union. The Tamil superstar also donated money to his fans who lost their family members to the virus.
It was in the month of February, ’20, that an income tax raid at Vijay’s residence in Chennai and according to media reports, no money or documents were seized even after a 23-hour rigorous search. This was after the success of his film Bigil that was reported to collect more than Rs 300 crore at the box office, the income tax department had already seized documents and a sum of Rs 77 Crores from the residence of the film’s financier Anbu Chelian.
There was constant support from Vijay’s fans and he began shooting his next film titled Master, the film is now in the last stage of its production.
