Shagufta Ali facing financial woes for the past 4 years, reveals she was offered help from CINTAA also reached out to Sonu Sood

TV actress Shagufta Ali has been battling financial woes for the past 4 years as work offers for her reduced and she had to sell of her car and jewelry to survive. The actress revealed that she is taking care of her ailing mother and was herself diagnosed with diabetes 6 years ago and the past year has been extremely harsh on her family.

Shagufta who has been a part of the television industry for 36 years also revealed that she battled breast cancer 20 years ago while working on Neena Gupta’s show Saans and had to undergo 9 chemotherapy sessions. The actress continued to work even through those testing times but today she is out of work.

The actress tells Times of India that more than medical help her family is in need of financial aid and work.

"I haven’t received any help till now. CINTAA had earlier contacted me to help me but I couldn’t take their help because the amount had not been sufficient for me for any kind of thing. CINTAA can provide good financial help. I was a member of CINTAA and I know they can help with a certain amount only and that would have not been helpful for me. So I did not take their help. I tried to contact Sonu Sood sir but they don’t help with financial expenditure. So nothing worked out with him.”

Talking about coping in these 4 years without work Shagufta reveals that, "I started facing issues in the last 4 years as work reduced. There was less work, so somehow I tried to manage things on my own by selling off my car and jewelry. I somehow managed to handle things in the first 2/3 years but now in the last 1 year things have been very difficult as I have exhausted all my savings. Honestly, initially, I didn’t want to ask for help so I thought whatever I have let me sell that and once I get work, things will get back to normal. But things got from bad to worse because of the pandemic.”

Shagufta when asked about work offers said that work has always come to her but on more than enough occasions she has either been replaced or things failed to work out at the last minute resulting in her ultimately being out of work.
