Begum Jaan’s New Song ‘Prem Me Tohre’ Will Transport You To A Different World Altogether!

The 90s kids have one recurrent thing to say to the Gen X- you’ll never be able to live the kind of music that we have grown up hearing! The soulful renditions by Asha Bhosle or Lata Mangeshkar have been conveniently replaced by raps by Badshah or Honey Singh. This music is not healing in any way though. The latest trend in Bollywood music has been remixing old classics. Not only does that reflect a lack of new though or idea, it also ruins the classic beyond recognition. It is kind of sacrilegious!

While Phillauri gave us a welcome change, the first song from Begum Jaan is what is giving us really high hopes. The song, ‘Prem Mein Tohre’ has been sung by Asha Bhosle and it will take you back to those times where music was soul stirring and therapeutic.

The music is composed by Anu Malik, while the lyrics have been penned down by Kausar Munir.  It has a very classical feel about it. Asha Bhosle’s voice gives it a touch that we had been missing for so long in Bollywood.

The visuals also reveal important details about the movie. More male characters are introduced through the song. Many minute details and the inter personal relation that the residents of the brothel have also been shown.
