Ashwin Kakumanu to play social activist in his next

Actor Ashwin Kakumanu, who rose to fame with Mankatha is all set to play social activist in his next. Directed by Shiv, the supernatural thriller has been titled Zero. Talking to a leading English daily about his upcoming movie, Ashwin says, "It is more of a supernatural thriller than a horror film. I play a social worker who starts seeing some strange happenings which unbalances his world."

Sshivada of Nedunchaalai fame has also been roped in to play the lead role in the film. "We play a married couple in the film. She is a fine actress and has done a great job as the heroine who keeps the hero grounded when strange things begin to happen," he elaborates. Apparently, JD Chakravarthi also plays a pivotal role in the movie.  "He is a horror movie buff himself," the actor talks about his co-star.

Interestingly, Ashwin was not approached for the role initially. "Another actor, who is my friend, was approached for this film. However, he could not do it and recommended my name," he informs.
