Dhanush: ‘While Shooting For Kodi At Pollachi, I Got This New Idea For VIP 2’

Recently, Soundarya Rajinikanth and Kajol were spotted at the audio launch of the forthcoming film, ‘Velaiilla Pattadhari 2’, along with Dhanush, who kept his Hollywood shoot on hold to attend the event. The movie is a sequel to the earlier hit film, ‘Velaiilla Pattadhari’ and features Bollywood beauty Kajol in a polished role with grey shades.

In a conversation with Deccan Chronicle, the leading actor mentioned that the making of VIP 2 wasn’t a cakewalk. “I was toying with the idea after VIP turned out to be a hit in 2014. But, I felt it would be tough to pen a story for this, since sensibilities have to be maintained. Moreover, a lot of things came to an end in part one — like there’s no conflict in romance, the mother character dies and after being a loser, the protagonist Raghuvaran wins towards the end, etc. So, there I had to crack the romance in a new way, to bring in fresh and interesting episodes. It was a challenge, and I put it aside then. While shooting for Kodi at Pollachi, I got this new idea for VIP 2”, said the Pa Paandi actor.

The filmmakers have a social message and Kajol’s comeback working as USP for the second part. “We have imparted an important social message in VIP 2, in a commercial and entertaining manner. Above all, the highlight of part two is that Kajol is returning to Tamil cinema after 20 years”, added Dhanush. The movie is set to release on July 28.
