Famous Tamil Filmmaker Attacked By Police While Protesting For Jallikattu

Jallikattu has become the hot topic of Tamil Nadu these days. Supreme Court has imposed a ban on the centuries-old bull taming sport Jallikattu. The ban has been appreciated by many while most of the people are protesting against the ban on the sport. The protestors also include many big Kollywood celebrities.

On the occasion of Pongal on January 14, a certain section of pro-Jallikattu activists were protesting to remove the Supreme Court ban. The protest was led by Tamil filmmaker Va.Gowthaman. In their protest, the protestors resorted to sloganeering in support of Jallikattu and against PETA.

If reports are to be believed, the filmmaker was severely injured in the protest after he refused to leave the place when asked by the police. The actions taken by the police force was condemned by many film industry celebrities including senior directors Bharathiraja and Vikraman. Recently, Kamal Hassan also gave his views against the ban.
