Kamal Haasan To Release ‘Marudhanayagam’ Through Small Screen

Kamal Haasan's long-delayed high budget historical drama ‘Marudhanayagam’ started in October 1997. The movie was launched with much fanfare by Queen Elizabeth II. However, it was shelved after the launch due to the lack of funds.

But, Haasan wants his ambitious project to release and so, he is considering releasing it through the small screen. During an event, the actor said, “I am considering the possibility of bringing my dream project, Marudhanayagam, through the small screen”. He added, “A good actor’s responsibility is to reach out to the masses. I feel proud to do that through television”.

Touching upon the flick, Haasan has earlier said, “"When I began Marudhanayagam , my good friend PC Sreeram had his doubts on whether Marudhanayagam will attract the attention of the general audience just like how great leaders like Gandhi or Nehru did, but I told him that by the time we complete the film, it will be a household name. However, even before completing the film, it has become a household name and we should thank the audience for that”. The posters of the film were displayed at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.
