Lyricist Arunraja Kamaraj To Make His Debut As A Director With A Film On Women’s Cricket

Lyricist Arunraja Kamaraj, who wrote the song Neruppu Da in Rajinikanth's Kabali, is all set to add another feather to his cap. After showing his skills as an actor, singer and a lyricist, Arunraja is all set to turn a director. He will be directing a film which is based on women’s cricket.

“I came into the industry with the aim of becoming a filmmaker. I'd participated in Naalaya Iyakkunar and had also worked as an assistant director in Vettai Mannan. I later took up acting, writing lyrics and singing to earn my livelihood. But I've always aspired to direct a film. And now, the time is right. I'm debuting as a director with a sports-based film, one which deals with women's cricket,” said Arunraja.

Talking about why he chose to make his debut as a director with a movie based on sports, Kamaraj said that though many films have been based on sports, but his will be the first one to focus on women’s cricket. “I can say it will be one-of-a-kind. I'd written the script before the women's cricket world cup, and was trying to gauge how people would react to a story like this. But after our team's performance and seeing the way people cheered for them, I became confident,” he said. Apart from focusing on cricket, the flick will also talk about the relationship between a daughter and a father. The lyricist is currently conducting auditions to finalise the actress.
