Pakistani Musician Atif Ali Debuts As A Singer

Pakistani musician Atif Ali, who has composed music for many Bollywood songs, is making his Tamil debut as a singer. The composer of Hindi flick Julie 2 will be singing in the Tamil film Sei. The music album has been composed by NyX Lopez and will feature actor Nakul.

Talking about why he decided to rope Atif to sing in his album, Lopez said, “I’ve known Atif even while I was making independent albums. So, when it came to composing a sufi song, there was no other choice than him because he has a very soulful voice.” He added, “The song has come out very well. It is supposed to be the first sufi song of Tamil. Though AR Rahman sir has done sufi songs in Hindi, nothing has been made in Tamil.”

The lyrics have been written by Yugabharathi and will release on November 24. Apart from Atif, many other singers have also lent their voice to the album. Shreya Goshal and Sonu Nigam have lent their voice, making their debut in Tamil. “A folk number has been crooned by Shankar Mahadevan sir, and we are expecting it to be the next Naaka Mukka for Nakul. Benny Dayal has sung a full-fledged rap number,” said Lopez. Helmed by Raj Babu, Sei also stars Nasser and Prakash Raaj besides Nakul.
