Rajinikanth-Starrer ‘Kaala’ May Get Banned In Karnataka
Updated : May 30, 2018 11:38 AM IST One of the most-awaited movies of the year ‘Kaala’, featuring Superstar Rajinikanth, is gearing up for a huge release in Tamil Nadu. After keeping fans waiting for a long time, the makers have finally released the theatrical trailer of the film on Monday, which has now earned more than two million views.
However, according to recent reports, it looks like ‘Kaala’ may not release in Karnataka because of the statement, given by Rajinikanth on the Cauvery water issue. In a recent statement, Sa Ra Govindu, President of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC), said that several pro-Kannadiga groups have sent letters to the chamber seeking a ban on ‘Kaala’ in Karnataka. He also stated that Rajinikanth’s statement on Cauvery has reportedly hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas.
However, as said, an official statement can be expected on Thursday as the Karnataka distributor of ‘Kaala’ is holding talks with KFCC regarding its release. Notably, Vatal Nagaraj, who is a pro-Kannadiga activist, earlier stated that he won’t permit the release of Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan’s films in view of the Cauvery issue. Moreover, the movie, directed by Pa Ranjith, is one of the biggest releases this year and is scheduled to hit the screens worldwide on June 7.
