Ranjith, Rajinikanth’s Next to be Titled Kaali?

These days director Pa Ranjith is busy hunting the appropriate title for his upcoming film, which stars Rajinikanth. Grapevine is abuzz that the director might zero in on ‘Kaali’. Ranjith’s previous project also had a character named ‘Kaali’. In fact, the film was referred as ‘Kaali’ during the production stage, but it was changed to ‘Madras’ later.

Rumour mills are also churning that Rajinikanth might play the titular character in the yet-to-be-titled film. In addition, it is said that the actor’s character in the Ranjith directorial is inspired from Mullum Malarum’s Kaali. In 1980, Thalaiva did a film titled Kaali, which was directed by I.V. Sasi.

Shooting for the upcoming film is scheduled to begin in Malaysia from August 2. Besides the Lingaa actor, the film also stars Prakash Raj, Dinesh and Kalaiyarasan Harikrishnan in prominent roles. Reportedly, Radhika Apte is under consideration to play the lead role opposite Rajinikanth.
