Rathna Kumar Casts TV Actress Priya Bhavani Sankar In His Next

Breaking all the notions that telly actresses cannot be cast as main lead in Tamil movies, popular short filmmaker Rathna Kumar has decided to rope in TV actress Priya Bhavani Sankar as the main lead for his upcoming film. The film is titled Meyaadha Maan. Actor Vaibhav Reddy has been signed in to play the male lead.

Talking about the film, Rathna Kumar said, “MM is based on my short film Madhu which was earlier released through Karthik Subbaraj’s Bench Talkies initiative. Owing to its commercial nature, Karthik asked if it could be made as a feature film.” He further stated that the film shows good side of residents of North Chennai.

He added, “When I saw people of Royapuram and Kasi Medu area, I found many creative people, who are good at singing, lyric writing, tabla, dolak etc. In the film, Vaibhav, who has finished college, runs a light music troupe. He is shy to talk to girls, but confesses his love openly. That’s why he is called Idhayam Murali, named after late hero Murali!”

Rathna earlier decided to cast Sai Pallavi. However, the actress cannot commit to the project due to date issues.
