Santhanam’s controversial dialogue deleted from Endrendrum Punnagai
Updated : May 01, 2014 03:11 PM ISTThe makers of Endrendrum Punnagai have reportedly removed one of the dialogues of comedian Santhanam from both the trailer and the film as it was not well-accepted by the audience. Several women's rights groups staged protests against the dialogue as it was a sexist remark and derogatory towards women.
Revealing the latest development a source said, "The original trailer was an uncensored one, and was shown only to a closed group of audience — during the audio launch. Unfortunately, this trailer was uploaded online instead of the censored one. Since Santhanam had come under criticism only recently for his parody of the anti-smoking campaign commercial, it became easy for people to target him through this." The same dialogue was used by Santhanam in his 2006-film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal but somehow it missed the women rights groups’ scrutiny at that point of time, it seems.
