Vijay Sethupathi’s Biggest Opening Ever – Dharmadurai

Amidst the slew of mixed reviews, Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Dharmadurai’ seems to be doing quite well at the box office. The movie stars Vijay alongside Tamannah, Shrusti Dange and Aishwarya Rajesh who play the female leads. ‘Dharmadurai’ has pooled in Rs.2.8 crores from Tamil Nadu on its first day.

The collection makes this film the biggest opening for versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi, according to sources. From the Rs.2.8 crores, the Chennai theatres brought in Rs. 36 lakhs while the Chengalpet theatres contributed Rs.69 lakhs. This might just be Vijay’s third hit film this year after ‘Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum’ and ‘Sethupathi’.

While some people have lauded the movie for its rural setting, good music and emotional content, others have criticized it for being slow. Directed by Seenu Ramasamy, ‘Dharmadurai’ also stars Radhika and Rajesh in pivotal supporting roles. The music has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the cinematography has been handled by Sukumaran.
