Vijay Sethupathi’s Mellisai Will Now Be Called Puriyaadha Pudhir

The movie-machine Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming flick has been renamed. Lately, there has been a trend of naming the movie over some yesteryear movie and that is what happened with Mellisai as well. Now, the movie will be called Puriyaadha Pudhir, taken from the 1990 film directed by KS Ravikumar.

Director JSK Sathish spilled the beans on sudden change in title of the film. He said, "I watched the film recently, and it is a thriller with the suspense element maintained well till the climax. Somehow, Mellisai as a title conveyed that the film was a softer film — a romance. So, after a joint discussion with the director and the producers, we changed it to Puriyaadha Pudhir".

Sathish added by saying that the team also considered titles, such as Moodupani and Netrikkan that are again old movies. The chief purpose of going for the new title was to justify the plot of the movie and the makers found this title to be conveying the same in a more catchy manner. The team got the permissions for the title from the original Puriyaadha Pudhir filmmakers.
