HC revokes ban on Vishwaroopam, govt to appeal against verdict

While the Madras High Court yesterday revoked the Tamil Nadu government’s ban on actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan’s controversial filmVishwaroopam, today the government will appeal in the court against the verdict. However, despite court’s order it will take some time before the film finally hits theatres depending on the availability of theatres in the state.

For this purpose, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners Association will hold a meeting today and only after the meet it will become clear whenVishwaroopamwould hit theatres. The government had imposed a ban on the Rs. 95-crore film for two weeks following protests by some Muslim organizations.
