Koratala Siva: I didn't want to make a just another regular film

Koratala Siva directorial Srimanthudu, starring Mahesh Babu has been highly successful since its release on August 7. With this second hit, Koratala is being called the next big thing. He has a ‘avoid the cliché’ perspective on films and is quite humble about it.

The director said, “There was no intention of 'redefining' anything as such. I simply wanted to present commercial cinema in a new way and that's what I did. And with a star like Mahesh on board, I didn't want to make a just another regular film. It's not like I want to change the course of cinema. I just tried to show the story on a large canvas and it paid off. Mahesh and I had immense belief in the story that we were telling “.

He added, “We assume that people love certain elements like comedy or action, but the truth is they respond well to emotions that they can connect with. Added to that, our film had content which was ably supported by star value; so in that sense, it's not really a surprise that the response has been so phenomenal”.
