Little relief for Kamal Haasan, Vishwaroopam becomes a hit abroad

While megastar Kamal Haasan's magnum opusVishwaroopamis struggling to hit theatres in the actor-producer’s home state of Tamil Nadu, the film has already become a huge hit abroad. The Tamil-language film is reportedly making good money in the U.S. and U.K. where it witnessed an undisturbed release on January 25.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, “OVERSEAS: Tamil filmVishwaroopamis superb in USA and very good in UK”. He added on Twitter,” Tamil filmVishwaroopamopening weekend UK 95,676 [Rs 81.23 lacs] on 19 screens ... USA $ 634,912 [Rs 3.43 cr] on 44 screens”. In Tamil Nadu, the film’s release has been banned by the government and it is currently under review by the Madras High Court after protests by several Muslim groups.
