Malaysian government lifts ban on Vishwaroopam

Slowly and steadily Kamal Haasan is winning the battle of releasing his film,Vishwaroopamworldwide. It’s being called a battle because of the controversies and obstacles this movie has faced so far. But the delight came on the part ofethnic Indians and for Haasan as well when Malaysian authorities removed the ban on the film on Tuesday.

Previously there was no restriction on the release of the film in Malaysia and Malaysian Film Censorship Board permitted its public release too and the movie was displayed in local cinemas. But later the buzz reached the minds of the authorities who ultimately landed up in banning the flick. It appears that the Malaysian officials were little concerned about the negative portrayal of Islam inVishwaroopam.

The ban resulted in the increased piracy of the film’s DVDs as many people were eager to watch the film.
