National award-winning veteran Malayalam actor Thilakan passes away
Updated : April 12, 2014 12:25 PM ISTVeteran Malayalam actor Thilakan, who had been awarded with the National award for the best supporting actor forRithubhedamin 1988 and had also acted in over 200 films, died at a city hospital in the early hours today.
The legendary actor-theatre artiste was battling with multiple organ failure over the last one month. According to sources, the body of the 77-year-old will be kept for public viewing at the Victoria Jubilee Memorial Town Hall from 11 a.m. and he will be cremated around 4 p.m. today. Thilakan debuted in the industry in 1972 withPeriyarbut he became a well known name with K.G. George’sKolangal(1981). After that he had acted in popular films like,Panchagni, Dhwani, Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Namukku Parkkan Munthirithoppukal, Rithubhedam, Jathakamand Nadodikkattu.
