S. Shankar And Kamal Haasan To Collaborate Once Again For ‘Bharateeyudu 2’

Director S. Shankar and actor Kamal Haasan are teaming up once again for the sequel of their iconic film ‘Bharateeyudu’. The crime thriller which was a blockbuster released way back in 1996. Titled ‘Indian’ in Hindi, the movie starred Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Sukanya and Goundamani apart from Kamal.

“Since he has become very vocal about his desire to fight against corruption, and is going to make a political entry soon, a film like this (considering the original was the story of an old vigilante fighting crime in the society) at this juncture could underline his agenda. It’s possible that a political statement could be made,” revealed a source. The film will be produced by ace Telugu producer Dil Raju under his Sri Venkateshwara Creations banner.

The source further added, “Shankar was keen on a Telugu producer taking the reins of the film. It was after several discussions that the film’s team has been finalised.” Talking about the movie, Dil Raju said, “This is a very prestigious and ambitious project, and so, we intend to go all out to give the film a spectacular release. This will be one of our most expensive productions.” Shankar is currently busy with Rajinikanth ’s ‘2.0’ and will soon begin with the pre-production work of the sequel once ‘2.0’ is wrapped up.
