Two arrested in Chimayi harassment case

After the arrest of city-based professor, now a government employee, who works as an assistant at Tiruppur Collectorate, has also been held in connection with posting vulgar messages about singer Chinmayi on her Twitter page.

Recently, Chinmayi lodged a police complaint alleging that few individuals have been threatening to rape, assault and kill her on Twitter since January. She had also complained that they have posted vulgar comments about her and her mother’s character as well. She listed six twitter handlers - @senthilchn, @RajanLeaks, @asharavkay, @losongelesram, @vivajial and @thyirvadai in her FIR. The two have been booked under the Information Technology Act 2005 and Prevention of Women Harassment Act.
