Urumi releases today amid high expectations

Renowned cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santosh Sivans much-ambitious project Urumi is releasing today. There are high expectations from the period film which stars an array of big actors from both Bollywood and Kollywood, including Vidya Balan, Tabu, Prabhu Deva, Genelia, Arya and Prithviraj. The film, which is produced by Kalipuli S. Thanu, has been made on a budget of Rs.20 crores. Although, the film is being termed as a Malayalam film but due to its large canvas it is competitive to an international project. Besides Malayalam, the film is also being made in English as Vasco Da Gama and in Tamil as Pathinaindham Nootrandu Uraivaal. The film is being released in two versions -- first a three-hour theatrical version and the second a 90-minute English version. The music of the film is scored by Deepak Dev and Vairamuthu has written the lyrics.
