Veteran Actress Jyothi Lakshmi Is No More

The prominent south Indian actress, Jyothi Lakshmi, is no more. She passed away on August 9 in Chennai due to blood cancer. It is reported that the actress was undergoing treatment for the same.

“She was suffering from blood cancer for a while and had been undergoing a treatment. She passed away earlier this morning,” said an industry source. Film personalities have started conveying their condolence messages on the social media. Director Adhik Ravichandran wrote, “Jyothi Lakshmi, who acted in the recent Trisha Illana Nayanthara passed away. Very sad. RIP ma'am.”

Jyothi Lakshmi passed away at the age of 63. She had appeared in more than 300 movies and has served the industry for over 46 years. Her dance numbers were considered obligatory in the movies of the 1980s and early 90s. Her last on-screen work was in a Tamil adult comedy flick, named ‘Trisha Illana Nayanthara'.
