The Boys Season 3 Episode1,2&3 Review - The new season ups the ante as Butcher and his team take on Homelander

The new season of The Boys is out and the first three episodes are streaming on Amazon Prime with each new season the show gets crazier, bloodier, and also funnier than before, showrunner Eric Kripke has managed to surpass the previous two seasons in just three episodes.

The show picks up after the defeat of Stormfront and we see Homanlander dealing with increasing media and public pressure over his relationship with her - an actual Nazi.

Homelander is even more unhinged than before and everyone around him knows he is just one bad day away from completely losing control.

Anthony Star once again does a great job as Homelander, as for Billy Butcher and the rest of the boys who now officially work for the government keeping watch over superheroes who break the law.

The show is known for its dark sense of humor, and of course the violence, and there is plenty of that here in fact the show manages with every season to take it up a notch, so you should stay away if that's not your thing.

Karl Urban is also excellent and the chemistry he shares with his co-stars, especially with Homelander, is explored a bit more in the second episode, as Butcher becomes more and more desperate to take down the most powerful superhero in the world.

 Hugh "Hughie" Campbell Jr. played wonderfully by Jack Quaid who had kept Butcher in line in the past seems to be more accepting of Butcher's cruel tactics something that switches up the dynamic between the two characters and which is sure to be explored in later episodes.

The newest addition to the cast is Solider Boy played by Jensen Ackles, who makes a brief appearance in the third episode and who will play a major role in this season's plotline.

It's hard to imagine Ackles as the racist and violent Soldier Boy after his performance as the beloved Dean Winchester in the hit Supernatural TV series, but the actor manages to impress during his brief appearance and we will get to see more as the season carries on.

What the show has successfully managed is to make the use of violence and gore genuine and not make it gimmicky, and after all, it is a show about power-hungry and crazy superheroes.

So the new season is off to a great start and teases something epic down the line.
