Moon Knight Episode 4 Review - The new episode manages to kick it up a notch and makes you excited for what comes next

After losing his powers, Steven and Layla must stop Farrow and his cult before time runs out
While the last episode of Moon Knight was enjoyable and had a few cool moments it felt a bit slow but the fourth episode manages to change all that up. This has to be the best episode of the show so far, the most noticeable thing is the addition of horror elements into the story.
When Steven and Layla are exploring the tomb of Ahmet on the trail of the cultist led by Farrow, directors Aaron Moorhead & Justin Benson managed to successfully add a small bit of horror to the plot, with Steven and Marc having now lost their powers adding to the tension.
In a lot of ways parts of this episode reminded me of the 1999 Brendan Fraser movie The Mummy, which is a good thing.
Oscar Issac again does a good job switching between Marc Spector and Steven Grant but the stand out of this episode has to be May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly. While in the last episode she was given more to do, it was here that she finally got her chance to shine and showcase her chemistry with her co-star.
The episode is a lot of fun to watch as they explore an ancient tomb filled with danger which turns out to be the long-lost tomb of Alexander the Great whose empire consisted of Egypt, as well as Greece, and various other parts of the world.
But it is in the last ten minutes that the episode really had me hooked. Having been shot by Farrow, Marc wakes up in a mental hospital severely drugged and bound to a wheelchair, he manages to free himself and ends up rescuing Steven and the two decide to escape but before they can do this they run into a woman with the face of a hippopotamus and the show ends.
This is, in fact, the Egyptian goddess of fertility and childbirth Tawaret voiced by Antonia Salib. This episode sets up a lot of fantastical elements for the last two episodes which have been missing (for the most part) in the previous episodes. It manages to keep the the moment going for the the fifth episode which is set to stream on Disney+ on April 27.
