The Sandman takes on the lord of Hell in the newly released extended clips from Netflix's upcoming show

The clips were released by Netflix via IGN, the first clip was from episode four, titled "A Hope from Hell"

In the clip, Morpheus and his raven arrive at the gates of Hell, where they are greeted by Lucifer played by Gwendoline Christie

They agree to let their old friend to search for the demon that stole his property, but Lucifer hints that getting it back will not be easy.

The second clip from Episode six titled "The Sound of Her Wings" featured an emotional exchange between Morpheus and his sister Death played by Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

The pair is seen at the home of an elderly violinist named Harry who is not quite ready to pass on.

Both clips are impressive and show the care that went into the show, while Netflix doesn't have the best track record with comic book adaptions, the ones they get right like Umbrella Academy and Sweet Tooth were very well received by fans and critics.

Hopefully, it will be the same with The Sandman . 

In a recent interview, Kirby Howell-Baptiste talked about her role

“I find that the compassion and the relatability of Death is what, for me, was the best way into the character, because I think that those are her defining features,” Howell-Baptiste says of her interpretation of "The Grim Reaper.". “In the majority of pop culture, when we have any depiction of Death, which essentially is just an idea, a concept, it's a lot more dark. It's doom and gloom, it's a lot more negative, for lack of a better word."

"The idea that people go into it kicking and screaming. And I think that the heart of what Neil created in the character of Death is dignity in death, and in that there is someone who is... It's a very uncertain and difficult thing, both for the person transitioning, and obviously the families that we focus on, the people transitioning.”

The Sandman will consist of ten episodes and stream on Netflix on August 5th.
